Center Grove Students show Glamour

Elderly makeover free - companionship and conversation too!

How often do you notice the teens of this world helping, caring and spending time with the elderly? Canter Grove High School has a organization that is nationally recognized  called GlamourGals. It is a newly formed Chapter in the High School.

This year Center Grove high School started its first chapter of GlamourGals and they did a wonder event of beauty makeover at Greenwood Meadows, an adult care facility located on SR-135 in Greenwood.

GlamourGals is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization that helps inspires and organizes teens to provide ongoing companionship and complimentary beauty makeovers to women living in senior homes since 2000.

The chapter was started by HOBY Ambassador and CGHS Junior, Jenna Hudson, who learned about the program by listening to GlamourGals’ Director of Programs (and  enter Grove Alumna) Julia Porter and Executive Board Member, Lou Valerio, speak at HOBY Indiana this past summer.

The event at Greenwood Meadows was a wonderful event that helped the elderly of our community know that some people do care about them.

The GlamourGals event on Saturday at Greenwood Meadows got the attention of Greenwood Mayor Myers who showed up for the event and took the time from his schedule to poses for a few pictures.

The volunteers who participated in the event were Center Grove students Jenna Hudson, Kaylyn Colinco, Katelyn Warner, Roncalli student, Olivia Curtis, and advisor, Center Grove Spanish Teacher, Kim Gill.

This new organization will make a positive mark in our community; also help create an atmosphere for young teens to learn respect for our elderly. Then the addition of teens getting community service hours for projects is another plus.

This Saturday is only the beginning of a fantastic community service with High School Students. The Johnson County community thanks this new Chapter at Center Grove High School and welcomes them with open arms.
